Dancing Shadows.

They Moved Beneath The Moon, swirls of liquid shadow. The soft pallid light danced, playing across their translucent skin and setting it aglow. “Dance with us,” they called, laughing gaily, silver eyes as bright as the moon glittering alluringly. I dipped behind the thin cotton of my curtain as the wind blew, my face hot. I wanted to join them. “Dance with us!” they sang, their voices like unfinished songs, lulling me towards them, pulling my heart like the strings of a guitar. “Come,” they pleaded, yet I kept my eyes closed. I couldn’t be fooled by their joyful play, for once I left the safely of my room, they would grab me and steal me away. Evil often did that…draped itself in the cover of night and presented itself as a peaceful thing. Evil often did that…appeared before you as your deepest wish, and hushed desire. Evil often did that…calling to you as the moon hung low, whispering its secrets, asking you to play. Evil often did that. I just hoped I would be …

BlindSide

“I love you…” It’s the scariest thing to hear, the hardest thing to say, and the worst thing to believe. I knew this and yet when he said those words I couldn’t help but believe him. Trust him. Want him. Desire. It’s a scary thing to feel. To want something you might never have. To reach for something you might never grasp. And yet…I did. “I love you…” Three words, eight letters, the power of the world in their hands. Once uttered they altered me—transformed me, and once broken they destroyed me. Yet still, I love you…   – Short Story written by Jae Lei Nyght

Welcome To The World Of Nyght…

I Was Running. In that middle realm between dreams and reality. The forlorn caw of a raven shook me from my goal–the dark, waste encased grey smoke rising towards the heavens before me. I tripped, my feet leaving the ground, the wind whipping past my face, scratching me–scarring me. The cries of the raven grew louder until with a snap I realized that it was laughing. I was out of time. I ran anyway, ignoring the tale tell signs that I was being herded like cattle, off course. The shadows were growing nearer, finger-less hands reaching for me, silver eyes squinting in merriment. “We found you!” they sang, toothless grins spreading as far as the night itself. The path ended, the smoke gone… so was my hope. The darkness before me began to form, a smiling face, twisted into falsified safety turning towards me with open arms. “Welcome home,” she said. And the more I tried to escape, the more I began to think so.   -Short Story written by Jae Lei Nyght
